Signs To Look For/Symptoms:The symptom is loss of eyesight, which may include blurry vision, double vision, etc. Low vision can be caused by injuries or by diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and retinitis pigmentosa. Risk Factors:Vision loss is a major risk factor of low vision. Preventative Measures:An eye examination can diagnose and prevent eye diseases such as low vision. Rehabilitations centers exist to provide assistance to people with low vision. Recommendations:Vision rehabilitation can help people compensate for their vision loss. There are also low visions aids that can help make tasks easier. Magnifying spectacles are stronger than ordinary glasses and can be used to conduct detail-oriented tasks. Stand and hand magnifiers, telescopes, and other low vision devices can both be used to improve a person’s ability to carry out day to day activities. |
