Success Story
Francisco came to the High Road
School, during his 9th grade year, when the program was located
in Hyattsville, Maryland. Francisco found himself challenged
by behaviors such as: impulsivity, difficulty remaining focused,
and defiance of authority. He was also struggling academically
and failed to complete most of his assignments. Francisco seldom
rose above the red level, the lowest level on the level system.
Today, Francisco is an eleventh grader. He has worked to achieve
and maintain green and blue levels of behavior for most of this
year. Francisco is cooperative with staff and a willing, eager
participant in the learning process.
When asked about his progress since beginning at High Road,
he said, “I think I have made good progress. I have learned
how to speak to staff when I get upset. I used to try to run
out of the room cursing.” Francisco’s mother stated
that. “He is doing good…I have seen improvements”.
