About the School
The High Road School of Ocean County opened in December, 1998.
Our student population ranges in age from 3-19 years old with
the following range of disabilities: preschool disabilities,
learning disabilities, multiple disabilities and social /emotional/behavioral
disabilities.
The High Road School of Ocean County is a private school approved
by the New Jersey Department of Education. The program adheres
to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for implementation
of IEP Goals and Objectives.
We design our programs to focus on the specific learning strengths
and needs of each child. Because we individualize our programs,
we’re able to meet each student at whatever level he or
she performs. Small classes, personal attention, and a positive
learning experience are the hallmarks of the High Road School.
As the student builds on classroom successes, you’ll see
those achievements lead to a healthier self-esteem. Our students
feel good about themselves. They develop confidence in their
abilities as students and as individuals.
Student Success Story
Jamar joined High Road School of Ocean County in March, 2000.
At that time he had been demonstrating great difficulties in
his prior classroom placement. Jamar was an angry youngster,
experiencing tremendous challenges in managing frustration,
compliance to authority and sustaining concentration and attention
long enough to complete academic tasks/assignments.
Jamar’s first months at High Road were extremely challenging.
As he became more familiar with the school wide behavior management
system and the expectations, he slowly became engaged in the
opportunities available to earn incentives. An individualized
incentive plan was additionally implemented to further assist
him in staying motivated and “On Track”.
During the past three and a half years, Jamar has made huge
strides. He is currently working above grade level and able
to complete all assignments independently. He demonstrates the
ability to comply consistently with teacher directions and requests.
Socially/emotionally, Jamar is now capable of interacting appropriately
and inhibiting negative behaviors. He has worked diligently
to attain this success and we are proud to celebrate his achievements.
