We believe that academic achievement stems from a positive attitude towards learning. Our teachers work with the students to help build attitudes conducive to learning, which include: confidence, competence, motivation and high self- esteem. The High Road Schools are committed to increasing the positive behaviors that will assist student in becoming successful in the community and school. We elicit these behaviors through our comprehensive behavior management system. Students earn “points” throughout the day for meeting behavioral expectations. These points correlate to different behavioral levels: red, yellow, green and blue. Students showing exemplary behavior have the opportunity to reach gold level. Each level has a corresponding monetary value and privileges associated with it. For example, a student on blue level can earn a dollar a day as an incentive to meet the behavioral and academic expectations. Students can earn their way up the level system through positive behavior and therefore see the correlation between acceptable, desired behaviors and rewards.
