Consumers no longer need to be concerned with companies claiming their windows have this R-value, that air-infiltration or boasting about other confusing or misleading data. A window with the ENERGY STAR label is your assurance that it is a tested and certified high performance product that can significantly reduce annual home energy bills. When checking U and SHGC values, make sure they are “WHOLE WINDOW” values, not “GLASS” or “CENTER OF GLASS” ratings. ENERGY STAR criteria only uses whole window values which are more difficult to attain, and more closely represent the energy efficiency of a window.
