In the High Road School’s, School-To-Work program, students have the opportunity to participate in real life jobs. The program is utilized to develop students develop employment skills and social skills to maximize their potential for success in the real world. Students work on the skills of punctuality, responsibility and independence. Students obtain jobs by filling our applications and interviewing for the position they are interested in. Once a student obtains a job at the High Road School they are held accountable for their attendance and punctuality. Students participate in a variety of jobs including: food service, retail management, cosmetology, child care, floristry, customer service, sales, advertising, accounting, and graphic design. The High Road School School-To-Work program also gives students training to enter specific job areas. Students have the option of participating in typing and A+ Certification, where students can gain the experience to get an entry level job in the computer field. New this year to our School-To-Work program is C-Tech training students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills through project-based activities about Copper and Fiber Optic Cabling Systems. Many of the jobs the students hold concentrate on managing our student run business named the School S.T.O.R.E. Students working in the School-To-Work program have the opportunity to work with many state of the art machines that make customized products for the school store.
